Plane parallelism

Plane parallelism refers to the parallelism of two plane surfaces. (see parallelism). Planarity refers to the spatial arrangement of points in a plane. These points are called plan. Plan means 'in a surface'. Two planar surfaces that are parallel to each other are plane-parallel. To align or produce plane-parallel surfaces, the required tolerances and material properties must be observed. In addition, particularly precise machine tools are required.
